How about 8x? I haven't tried. Will this really increase speed? I use Ridata discs (my PS2 hates Verbatim DVDRs and CDRs burned by my current burner).

AFAIK is 8x one of the "best" burning speeds for DVD media on current burners.
Even 12x or 16x can have good results, depending on your media-burner-combination. Slow speeds like 2x are known to cause problems with newer drives. These speeds are only available for compatibily reasons on old DVD media.
    Slim PS2 SCPH-70004 (v13) w/ FMCB, 3x Sony 8MB, 1x MaxMemory 16MB (Backup card)

I'm not available for FMCB installation service until I can guarantee a processing time of a few days again, sorry.

Happy mediam for DVD burning would be x4..

You can burn at what ever speed you want.. However the higher the speed the more likely youll end of making a coster..

I would recommend x4 how ever you should look at it like this..
Always burn at half your burn speed for your DVD burner..
So if you have a 16x burner then I wouldent burn any faster then 8x..

Make cents?.. Ya well its your money.. Make costers if you want..
Burning at higher speeds WILL NOT improve loading times!.
All it will do is cause the burn to be done sooner..
Data is writen the same no matter what speed you use so keep this in mind..

Also take note that the laser will have to work over time as its not a press factory copy of the game your using (Yes this makes a diff.).. You may want to do 3 things..
    1. Clean your laser
    2. Adjust your pots (google is your friend)
    3. Use diff. media

    Just my $0.02

    Later,
    Scooter
Ya Im Bi-Poler and proud of it
    My list of goodies:
    PS2 Version 1, 3, 9 (Magic V 50K) & 12
    FMCB 1.8b/ESR/OPL/HDL (.8c)
    PSP 2001 (Gen-D3)

Don't mind the smell!.. My brain farts a lot!
