for the cost, a chipped solution is still a helluva lot safer though. Anything that exposes internal components to the elements unneccesarily is a risk--especially when it can be easily avoided. It only cost me I think $13 to chip 2 v5's with a no-solder plug mod almost 3 years ago--and I didn't have to worry about constantly exposing drive components, feking up CD's or the drive spindle....etc.
There really is little excuse for not getting a chipped solution these days. I mean, if you're willing to void all warranties by jamming a knife in there and risk thrashing your drive tray, or replacing the shell for a flippy lid--why not do it right the first time around and not have to worry about it?
My 2 cents....not worth much, but I'm sure many will agree....

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.
