Backed up game stuttering

I burned SSX3 a few days ago on verbatim mmc dvd-r media
I burned it on 4x tho, didn't find the speed setting in dvddecrypter, tought it would ask me when I clicked the burn button

now the game stutters, like "lagging", starting at the EABig intro
is this due to 4x burning or because I burned this with a Mashita (or something like that) dvd burner?
it's not my burner, but I think it's crap anyway, hence the brand (never really heard of it)

also, I'm gonna buy a Plextor 740A, is it good for ps2 games?

and a last question: aren't I supposed to play backups on a dvd+rw with my matrix infinity?

try it at 2x, the write speed option is there before you burn, might try upgrading the firmware for the burner. it could also be because of your burner i had similar problems with my old hi-val brand dvd burner and now i have a nec dvd burner i no longer no longer have problems with dvds i burn.

Plextor are horribly expensive and overrated for DVD Burners IMHO. The NEC3540A would be a much cheaper and more flexible burner. With all the firmware update options out there for it, it completely leaves the Plextor in the dust, IMHO.
