Avoid allmediaoutlet.com ... Bad DVD-Rs, bad service.
Avoid allmediaoutlet.com ... Bad DVD-Rs, bad service. –

Just wanted to warn people that they should avoid ordering DVD-R discs from www.allmediaoutlet.com. I ordered a small spindle of 25 DVD-R, Ritek 4X discs and after getting about half-way through, found my first DVD-R that couldn't be recognized by my Sony DRU-500A recorder. I went through the rest in drive explorer in RecordNow Max, and discovered 6 bad discs out of 25. Tried these 6 in a Pioneer A05, and with different burn programs, and there's no doubt that these are bad.
So I wrote to their tech support email, and after about a week got a response telling me to write to the proper department ... they said I should be contacting Tech support, and gave me the email. WHICH IS WHO I CONTACTED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!
I got an email, from technical support, telling me I had to write to technical support.
So I wrote them back, and got no response. Finally called them today, and discovered that because of them dicking me around over email, the short 30-day return policy had expired. What a crap policy ... do they expect every customer to go through all of their discs in 30 days? What if I had a 100-pack of DVD-Rs?
I know it's only 6 discs, and about 9 bucks. Any decent company would have taken that amount off my next order, which there certainly would have been otherwise.
I've found their customer service rude and disorganized. Avoid them at all costs.

Hey slappynutz, did you run cdspeed and confirm that these were in fact Ritek G04's? And if so, what is the serial number on the inner ring of the disc. Are these the first -r's you have worked with? Please post more info cause all my dealings with that vendor have been on the level. I wouldn't have let this go over 30 days in the first place. I have tried about 4 different types of media and have never made even 1 coaster, so if 1 fails, I would be very attentive to the 2nd one. If two fail, the whole lot is going back immediately.

I once, and only once, ordered a spindle of 100 cds from allmediaoutlet. They were rated to be 32x speed, but most wouldn't burn over 8. Then to top it all off, at least 20 out of the 100 wouldn't even be recongnized by any cd writer I have. They were just total junk. I wouldn't order from them even if I had too.

dr_kevo, I did run cdspeed and confirmed that what I got sent was NOT Ritek. But they're still just claiming they can do nothing about it ... they're a piss-poor company and judging from the responses I've received on other forums, the vast majority of people have had experiences similar to mine and RalphWiggum's.

I had to upgrade my firmware so I could use ritek discs on my Pioneer A03/103. Maybe the firmware in your drives does'nt support the ritek dvd-r's? I have'nt tried ritek in my a03 yet. I have used Princo in my A03 after I did a firmware upgrade, which burnt fine. But did'nt work good in my ps2. Maxell's work really good as was Apple and Pioneer dvd-r in my ps2.

Nah, I'm using the latest firmware from Sony ... plus if it was the dvd burner either all or none of the discs would work. As I mentioned in the first post, these 6 discs don't work on two different, newly updated burners. It's a 24% failure rate, which is unacceptable, and the store won't honour its quality guarantee. They're a bunch of crooks.
