i know there are plent of posts bout this, but prices change and whatnot...

ive saw alot of places have pioneer brand hand down...im a fan of pioneer, i own their brand of DJ equipment (CDJ-100s if anyone wanted to know), but their price tag is a lil hefty...if all else fails ill save up and buy it

anyways is the dual format +/- really necessary?
i know for a fact my ps2 reads both types of media...my dvd player on the other hand i dont know never burned a dvd movie, but i plan to with this dvd burner (captured home movies specficially...so top quality is not an issue)

anyways any help would be appreciated -thanx

im lookin to spend no more then $100

d00d I got an dvr-107 from ESbuy when my 105 crapped out

I think it was like 109 bux for the black model
anyways, I can burn pretty much any 4x media @ 8x, only drawback is I can no longer burn 1x @ 2x, but hey better drive needs better media

All my discs work on xbox ps2 and DVD
Also, there is no way to use what is known as "bit-setting" which you can fool readers into thinking a DVD+R is a DVD-ROM by burning it a special way.

(I guess this is the only way to make a Samsung XBOX dvdrom read +R, but -R is cheaper and 8x so F'it! )

Am i the only LiteOn supporter here?

I have a LiteOn LDW-451s, and it burns all my Ridata("Grade A" Ritek) discs flawlessly.
all of them work perfectly fine on my 2 year old V5 PS2, DVD-Rom and player.

sure Pioneer and more expensive burners is more compatible when burning low quality media(which you DO NOT want to use with a PS2).
but with A grade media such as Ritek, LiteOn will be just as good and will produce similiar results with just a fraction of the price.

and about DVD+R, they work fairly well on newer dvd player. It's not exactly the ideal format for PS2, but bitsetting DVD+R to DVD-ROM will improve compatibility for consoles and older dvd players.

a lot of burners out there supports bitsetting(most LiteOns), but i still prefer to stick to the good old -R

I got a Sony DW-U14A just before christmas, must have burned over 200 dvd's so far and not had a single coaster, that's using all kinds of media too including the cheapest, crappiest that you can think of. It was more expensive than the pioneer at the time, dunno what it is now.
