I got a no solder v4 mod on my V4R. I have only tried using cheap cd-r which is GQ from Fry's (which looks almost like Sony) and Memorex black bottom.

I got my ps2 to read my backups of ps2 cd-r's(both GQ and Memorex black bottom) and dont have any ps1 or dvd-r to test it out yet. But even though its reading my backups of ps2 cd-r, its making louder noise compared as if it was reading an original ps2 game, which is coming from the lens working harder , trying to read the backup.

I've read that some of the best media is Verbatim, TDK,Memorex.
My question is say even if I used Verbatim as my media for backups, will the ps2 still make the same amout of noise from the lens? Or will there be less noise since the media is easier to read?

I'm thinking the harder the lens is working(more noise) the faster the lens will wear out. So I want to minimize the amount of noise.

definately worth trying to use high qual media and a lower burn speed, about 4x.

But from my experience reading CDRs have always been louder then reading the originals.. but how much louder was dependant on the above. Yo've just gotto play with those 2 things and find your optimal setting for your ps2.

thanks, i'll try using some verbatim/tdk/sony and burning at 4x too. So far all my games have been burned at 8x.
