1.33 hacked firmware problem?! Gradius? any1?
1.33 hacked firmware problem?! Gradius? any1? –

i got Gradius' 1.33 hacked firmware. the one for dvr-105. the one with
- RPC-1
- unlocked 2x speed for ripping
- 2x for RITEKG03
i had the 1.33 offical from pioneer. once i installed the hacked 1.33 firmware i noticed that with my Ritek G04 on recordnow max 4.50 the discs only burned at 2x speed. and when it was verifying it was only doing 2,760 kb/s. so why did the speed go down to 2x? i downgraded to 0.54. then back to official 1.33. i havent tested it yet w/ the official 1.33 firmware cuz i have nothing to burn. but is Gradius' 1.33 hacked firmware they best firmware he has out now for the dvr-105? is it supposed to bring the riteks G04 to 2x speed.
and sry for all the questions but what does RPC-1 stand for?
and when they say unlocked 2x speed for ripping, what does thta mean. like when u are making an image of a game or something?
TIA

Click--I think they're still working on that 1.33 fw. It's modeled after the 1.30 hacks, so it may in fact be setting all the media to 2X--not sure. Maybe Gradius can clue us in. One thing you might want to check on though is your DMA settings. You need to enable UDMA in your BIOS and in your OS, enable DMA Transfers in burner's properties page. The process can vary by OS, but you do this by way of Device Manager in Win9X. If you don't enable DMA, your drive is using PIO, which hogs CPU time and severaly limits the read and write speeds of your drives.

well in device manager for my dvr-105. and it says Ultra DMA Mode 1. So thats ok. I went into my bios and under the settings for my dvr-105 it said PIO Mode was at 4. I could make it 1 - 4.
And DMA Mode was at 2. i could make it 1 - 5 or disabled. A made the DMA to mode 4 and PIO Mode to 2 and the drive wouldnt boot. So i just changed it back to default.

Because you are not going to burn any 1X or 2X media at 4X. Gradius told me so.
Only way you will get 4X burning is with 4X media.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

Damn...one of my ideas actually paid off for once!....hehe....now I feel all warm inside.....feels good to do a good deed once in a while instead of bitch-slapping everyone all the time....hehe.
Glad it's going better for you. Keep an eye on the firmware pages though, they will probably get some more tweaking going on. Saw a fun fw that's in extreme experimentation right now--got some RW to burn at 4X on a couple drives. Talk about spead freaks...
