When Graf_Chokolo releases his version of Linux support this should be a no brainer

Why not just port over WiiMC, surely that would be easier option than porting over XBMC??

Are there any media center software or players to playstation 3 currently? Say to play mkv files, xvid files, etc.. I do not own a PS3 yet, but in about a week or so I should be up and running 3.55 :-)

I'd rather have XBMC run natively on GameOS than to have to run linux every time I wanted to use XBMC. Just talking out my ass, though, I have no idea what's involved in doing that. It would be awesome though.

I wish I could completely replace GameOS with XBMC. It most likely will never happen though.

It can happen if fail0verflow releases Asbestos.pup.

I actually found an accelerated 3d driver for the ps3 under linux. The only problem is that it uses Cell not RSX but XBMC might be able to use it. If not, someone would have to write one that uses RSX.

If you find the acclerated 3d driver here.

Lua support is already supported natively on the PS3. A couple of games use it. So it wouldn't be hard to use it in applications I would imagine. Would just have to find a compiler that is compatible.

A specific game that I have seen that uses linux would be Naruto Shippuden Ultimate ninja storm 2. I saw tons of .lua files when I was FTPing my backup. (1TB drive inside my PC for all my backup archival in case someone tries to state the big ol P.)

Nobody has bothered trying to compile it, as those who know how also understand just because linux runs does not mean that the required levels of effeiency have been acheived. The frame buffer video is way to slow. Its like running windows in safe mode. At the moment there is no good open source nvidia drivers for linux that can be compiled for ppc. Nvidias linux drivers are good, but they do not supply source and the x86 drivers are useless.

These drivers - nouveau are open source accellerated nvidia drivers:
    nouveau Wiki - FrontPage

But they are not very good. Even on pc they are feature limited and not as stable as they need to be. So wait for good video drivers to be developed, then when the ps3 is capable of accellerated 1080p im sure it wont take long for the media players to be compiled.
