madshaun1984 had it compiled and running on OtherOS, it was a bit slow, but with zero support from anyone and the removal of OtherOS, the project was put on hold, however with the emergence of AsbestOS and the posibility of marcan adding a Ubuntu kernel, we will see XMBC on the PS3 and hopefully a lot faster than in OtherOS![]()
But if XBMC supports PowerPC maybe we can compile it to Game OS?
If you ask the guys on the XBMC forums, they will just rip you a new butthole. They hate it when people ask about XBMC for GameOS. I think our best bet will be to run it from AsbestOS.
It doesnt seem to be so far away now with cfw.
It even seems that we´re getting Linux back quite soon, so
a XMBC port to Linux or PS3 would do it.
So you still think it is going to be far far away?
Someone needs to write linux drivers for the PS3 before this is happening, and the hardware is mostly un documented afaik. What I'm saying is, that requires some hardcore coding. Hoping that Failoverfl0w are doing most of what is needed....
Cant wait to compile qemu and try use it in conjunction with wine and native PPC x-server.
I'm waiting for XBMC on my PS3
