madshaun1984 had it compiled and running on OtherOS, it was a bit slow, but with zero support from anyone and the removal of OtherOS, the project was put on hold, however with the emergence of AsbestOS and the posibility of marcan adding a Ubuntu kernel, we will see XMBC on the PS3 and hopefully a lot faster than in OtherOS

But if XBMC supports PowerPC maybe we can compile it to Game OS?

If you ask the guys on the XBMC forums, they will just rip you a new butthole. They hate it when people ask about XBMC for GameOS. I think our best bet will be to run it from AsbestOS.

Or someone needs to go and port it to LV2 GameOS. Really, it's the true potential killer app of the scene, IMO. Nothing else even comes close.

Don't look at me, though - I don't think I have enough experience to do that.

i doubt youll see that. if anything, when asbestos becomes better you will see someone make an asbestos xbmc live release. which, will work just as well in my opinion.
but this is far from happening right now
PIC based jailbreakers please visit my thread below and please READ. I have spent a few hours now trying to explain everythign as best I can here. You will also find my latest HEX releases there as well.

It doesnt seem to be so far away now with cfw.
It even seems that we´re getting Linux back quite soon, so
a XMBC port to Linux or PS3 would do it.

So you still think it is going to be far far away?

Someone needs to write linux drivers for the PS3 before this is happening, and the hardware is mostly un documented afaik. What I'm saying is, that requires some hardcore coding. Hoping that Failoverfl0w are doing most of what is needed....

Cant wait to compile qemu and try use it in conjunction with wine and native PPC x-server.
