guyz i saw this video on youtube and it's showing a linux running on ps3 slim
20 mins long
the video poster claims that he worked 20 day to get it running on the ps3 slim 3.41

here's his setup
- PS3 slim running on 3.41
- Using Beagleboard and PSFreedom to load asbestos payload.
- Rootfs on external USB harddrive.
- Kernel compilled by taking the patches from macman repo and applying them to main ps3 kernel tree (2.6.37.rc6).
- My PS3 and PC are connected to the same monitor. PS3 on HDMI and PC on VGA.

If this is real (I really hope it is!) this is some amazing news! It's still going to be quite a while before we get proper video support, as I remember reading somewhere that the way the PS3 loads it's GPU will require a different approach for hardware acceleration on the PS3.. but I would still be quite happy being able to boot into my *nix partition and have a working OS like I did when I first bought the console

Does anybody have any more vids or success stories they read??

Linux isnt' like Windoze….it doesn't hog RAM or have a bunch of bloatware running all the time…..I can run Ubuntu 10 on 64MB RAM and it boots almost as fast as my PC with 1GB RAM

Yeah, but you probably can't even load sites properly or multitask at all.

Imagine youtube running with 256mb ram, besides why not just build a dedicated linux box in the first place?
