Ubuntu works with PS3 ?? –
Sup guys, i wanna know if the Ubuntu works with PS3 Slim 120gb model because i was searching around and seems like the best choice for a windows user like me (never tried any linux before)... what do you guys think?? is it possible to install ubuntu on ps3 slim??
Sorry for my bad english...
Thanks alot for the help.
slim ps3 does not have an option to install linux.
You aren't missing out on much, right now, it's extremely slow, and doesn't support much of anything because it's a whole different architecture (PPC). The only good thing about having linux / otheros is that you can read the ps3 discs and back them up if you want, but there isn't anything to do with them after that, yet.
I've been on ubuntu 9.10 all day. Just updated. It's pretty sweet. On the download manager I found like 100 free openGL games. The list was huge. but I could only find 100 I was interested in. It is pretty cool. All the emulators work pretty good Including PSX emulator. DS3/Sixaxis is pain in the ass to set up so its not you. If you run into this problem. But the huge pain in the ass wireless problem is fixed with WifiRadar.
really ? You say that you have openGL Grafik on your PS3 in Linux ? you say PSX emulator is working ?

Can you show me a video ? i am very, very interested if you really got this to work.
In Ubuntu 9.10 Alternative installed on PS3 go to "System" -> "Administration" -> "Synaptic Package Manager" Be sure to check "Allow Restricted Packages" I just did it now to see what I can get and in the list total it says 27,583 Packages in the list. These are all games and apps for use development including stuff that use opengl. Im not an expert by any means. But there is shit loads of OpenGl stuff and ive installed some stuff and it seems to run fine 9 times out of 10.
y recomend XUBUNTU 9.04
It's better? I could do that im not doing much today. Do you got a link to the best build ?
Runs psUbuntu 9.04, it runs most emulators with no problems what so ever, all SD movies, but not 720p and 1080p.
But I have had troubles running the sixaxis as mouse and emulator controller,
it runs fine the first time I install it on a clean system, but after a reboot,
the functionality is no longer there...
exen with QTSIXA? I could never get the sixaxix going other than with this special plugin.
