    Hi all.

I have written a guide to help beginners install and configure Ubuntu on their PS3.

    It includes:
    - Installing Ubuntu
    - Using PS3 vram as swap.
    - Install LXDE (A lightweight desktop environment).

You can find it here: Installing Ubuntu on PS3 - PSHomebrew

Good guide, but could you also include how to use USB as swap?
Also, you say "coming soon" about a lot of things. Do you have any proof for this?

Using a USB stick as swap is not recommended as flash memory only has so many read/write cycles. It is also not as fast as the vram. I may add an optional guide to use it though.

As for the coming soon stuff, wireless is being worked on atm (it's in the todo list of a couple of devs) and SDTV support is basically just waiting for a version with the resolution modified.

Awesome guide. Will try this once I get my USB keyboard.

    Thanks!

How do I extract the Ubuntu image files? I have all 3 parts but when I remove the .001-003 extention leaving the .rar extension I can't unzip. Tried 7zip with the same result. Little help please.
    Launch CECHA01 60GB now 500GB
    Kmeaw 3.55 CFW
    multiMAN 2.03.00

-The only disc a PS3 can rip is a PS3 Game Disc!
-New versions of multiMAN can be installed over old ones, no need to uninstall!
-If your games won't work, have you installed BDEMU2?

Either join with HJsplit or use 7-Zip (don't remove the .001 etc. extension).

Will add this to the tutorial.

Because it is not an official version of Ubuntu. It has a modified kernel and other changes to make it work on PS3. It was made by madshaun1984 from PS3hax.
