Did this tools beep twice when you installed them? Because that's the first script ran by petitboot and the ps3stor_region is declared as a variable associated with that same region.

I got the "--1" every time. I was stupid and used the xmb menu instead of the recovery menu to restore. idk if that was the problem but after I restored from the recovery menu everything went ok.

excuse me, can you explain better this situation?

you mean you restored with recovery menu after the initial installation of CF otheros++ , the second step???

and you put again in factory service mode the ps3 as following
"Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off.
When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps."

and from there you recovered the system??

or you mean something else ??

Just another question, did you use gitbrew's first method in attempting to install OtherOS++ before the newer one?

    Just to clarify:

    1. install ps3 OFW 3.55 from xmb(or any method should work)
    2. install 3.55 otheros++ cfw using this method

    1. Turn off ps3
    2. Hold power button down, the system will turn on then turn off again
    3. Repress and hold until you hear 2 consecutive beeps (you will actually hear 3 beeps, 1 right after it turns on, then another 2)
    4. you will be prompted to plug in your controller with a usb and press the ps button.
    5. Then select the "restore ps3 system" from the list.
    6. after it restarts, everything else should be good

btw i didn't use the old otheros++ method but it shouldn't cause any problems
