are you talking about slim or phat, for phat go here:
PS3:Linux - wikibrew
he is working on the slim drivers now (claims to have it working), but only has files on the git repo found here:
git.gitbrew.org Git - ps3/ps3linux/ps3-jupiter.git/summary
I dont know how to set it up for slim yet, but im sure there will be a tut sometime soon![]()
slim. But look at this anon
http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...x-driver-1442/
what do you think? i want it so bad but then again i'm sick of downloading a new Linux distro every few months and starting over. Plus i like red ribbon alot. But what does "partial' mean? that in a few weeks one with full RSX will come out? i think I'll wait and see what happens. I wonder if this can be downloaded and i can still keep red ribbon. I wonder how freebsd runs compared to linux.
I'm downloading that now lol, the rsx is just for graphics, it will help performance, but it has nothing to do with wifi. it says it has the new wlan support so it *should* work, but i could be wrong. idk what he means by "partial", i guess ill find out later haha.
As long as you have enough space left on your hd then you can install as many OS's as you want (linux, freebsd, etc). Ill report back after i get it installed and let you know if wifi works on this version. This is my first time trying freebsd, i hope everything goes smoothly.![]()
ok got it downloaded and burned to disk, but when I boot it there is no gui. The text seems to go past the edge of the screen so I cant see the last command, and the text looks weird (like there are lines going horizontally through the text???)My tv only supports 1080i not 1080p, so it might be a resolution conflict.any ideas to fix that are appreciated. I'll probably be up for the next couple hours trying to fix it haha.
edit: I tried a couple boot options to set resolution and it just kept freezing, maybe it doesnt support 1080iif you have any ideas that i could try let me know

I have tweeted Gitbrew asking about 1080i, will let you know. UPDATE: Gitbrew informs me that only 1080p is supported for now.

What? thats ridiculous. My Tv only does 1080i also. How can you not have resolution options from the get-go. Sorry you wasted your time with the DL anon. Probably took forever to get it downloading since the page wasn't working for days to download it. hopefully the red ribbon guys will implement the wifi, or we can do it ourselves. But they just released a new release candidate RC5, so i don't see that happening anytime soon.
Thats what I figured, hopefully he can add 1080i soonI wish I knew more about it, then I could do it myself lol.
Maybe he has to setup the rsx driver different for different resolutions, I'm just happy he's working on it and releasing it for free haha.
Good news:
He put up a tut for enabling wlan
PS3:Linux - wikibrew
Bad news:
Its a lil advanced for me, Ill be up all night trying to get it working... again
Edit: I think I know how to get the wireless working but I ran into a road block along the way. I cant find any way to get the source for the kernel. When I try compiling the wireless module I get an error about the build source missing, but all I find while google searching/on gitbrew are precompiled kernels. Anyone know where to find the kernel source. Preferably the source for red ribbon (idk if they all use the same or different kernels?!)
