I installed LXDE on my PS3, but when i try to login to it now, it goes to the black screen and shows the login screen again. It works, until i restart the ps3 system, then it stops working. The Ubuntu Desktop Edition works perfectly, but it does take about twice the RAM so i don't want to use it.

    Thanks.

Just to say that my PS3 isn't connected to the internet. I also plugged in a USB memory stick to transfer data from my PC to the Ps3, and it crashed when the USB was in, it's done it several times now, it stopped working after i restarted, possibly has something to do with it.

Also is it possible to actually turn the PS3 off? I have to remove the power cable to turn it off at the moment, as Linux shutdown option doesn't do anything.

can't help you with the crash-part but shutting down the ps3 can be done by holding down the powerbutton for 10-15sec.

Ok thanks, tried holding it down, but obviously not long enough.
