im not trying to say your wrong, but i followed the guide and it worked. so obviously the guide is right.
one thing i noticed the guide doesn't point out is you have to setup /dev in fstab, it doesnt automatically do that. idk if that would cause the problems you are getting, but that would also effect debian. did you check to make sure you did every step correctly
ps: i only used the guide on gitbrew.org, since that is where otheros++ came from it only makes sense to use their guide.
so what would be the line of text to put into fstab?
Are you on a NOR or a NAND? I'm on a NAND and it didn't work following that exact guide and on lenny, to be exact, apt-get claimed there was no build-essentials package for me to install, so i could not build the kernel. also on natty iirc, the tasksel step would not do anything(would just run a command but no tasksel screen showed up) like it did on debian and lenny.

so i entered "aptitude install ~pstandard ~prequired ~pimportant -F%p". with that command you can replace what tasksel would do.
the line to put into fstab:
dev /dev tmpfs rw 0 0
i have a nor, but the guide was updated for nand so it should work
for the kernel just download the one on gitbrew, its basically the same thing
did tasksel have any errors. like chrnit said there are other commands you could use.
no tasksel just left a blank newline and when back to "root@hostname blah blah:"
i dont really care anymore i wasted a lot of time trying to get ubuntu to work, and since i have debian working quite nicely, i'll just use it instead lol.
hey i am back and i tried to install debian with the advise that you guys gave me.
well, i get the same error as with ubuntu: "system going down now...".
aww guys, i hate that ps3-linux already. what can be the problem?
edit: when petitboot restarts it shows me an error message at the bottom:
Failed: kexec /var/petitboot/mnt/ps3dd2/boot/vmlinux-2.6.39-g2a10ebc
i would appreciate fast replies ;)
i did what the ps3linux wiki guide said. if the wiki wasnŽt down right now, iŽd post that text.
apart from that, how do i check, now that it does not function? i noticed that when i reboot into petitboot then the shell behaves like i never installed anything.
Yo can still view it through google cache
when you search for it in google you can click the cache button next to the name its not the full site but it helps :)
as for remounting it after rebooting i aint got a clue lol
