Not possible, your best bet is to sync trophies, then take a backup of your PS3 with the built in backup manager. Then format the Harddisk Drive with only one partition, then recover from the backup.

Now to get Linux back, you have to wait untill a better way of loading AsbestOS is released. (waiting for a bootloader).
Offtopic: Why did he call it AsbestOS ? Asbestos is a silicate compound that is so dangerous that just handling the material will kill you... lol
I agree Asbestos is a crappy name, should have been ps3linuxloader or something, but that doesn't really matter.
I hope marcan and fof have not abandoned it. In any case I don't think we will see anything from them till this Sony court business is over.
I would like to see the gatz Asbestos loader re done for 3.55 with any new stuff Marcan has done in stage2. Stage2 has came a long way since gatz first made his loader. Hard disk should work now, we could use the otheros.self that was packaged for doing the install.
Ive had a look at the source, changed the address offsets for 3.55 but didn't work. I dont have time at the moment to spend hours on it.
Lets hope we see linux on the Ps3 + 3.55 in one form in the near future.

also there is no need to format the harddisk as the ps3 will do that itself. swapping out and formatting ps3 harddisk requires having a usb storage with ps3 firmware ready for rebuilding the filesystems.
best bet is to wait for the dual boot to arrive..only a matter of time.
The PS3 does not format the harddrive by it self, if you do not tell it to. Also I never said to use something else than the PS3 to format the Harddrive.

He would be much better of on a Ubuntu or Debian distro, or maybe something specially tailored for the PS3.
Even if his YDL would be found by the upcoming boot menu, and it would try to boot it, I guess it would crash and burn since it does not have the drivers for the GAMEOS setup on the PS3.
