I'm just having trouble deciding ona parttion scheme.

I want one for root /
    one for swap
and one for the PreP bootloader

but that says it's needed at the beginning of the partition but it's such a pain to get it to set up right, plus what should be flagged bootable ?

maybe expert mode would be more precise when it comes down to creating the partitions how you want them.

But in either way, most (99%) of the work is graf's, and this guy took all the credit to himself.
This is not the way to act when you are releasing something that the most of it isn't yours.
Maybe it is graf Or someone mastered his HV bible he dumped a while back. Better soemone taking over though where he left off, cause i don't think graf is going to be going back to work on any ps3 hacks for a while. he has too much pride to release things as anonymous and i can't blame him cause he deserves all the credit he gets for what he has done with linux on ps3.

It's easy to setup the prep boot. Simply delete all the partitions under vflashh, and than simply create a new primary partition and set it as the prep one. After that you can do whatever you want.

Can you install and compile gentoo on a full debian install? Or will the PS3 run out of memory? using chroot from the CD causes problems. It does that error that I showed you guys previously.

I got it installed using the Debian installer cd found at the beginning of this thread. It should install fine from a full debian install, but make sure to use a good size swap partition for the memory issues.

ok once the initial installation is complete and you can go back to the installer menu are we supposed to add grafs kernel in there? or is it not necessary foir this distro?

If so how to we add it in, i tried usuing a usb thumbdrive but when it wouldn't work. Do we unzip them first then add them to the usb drive? or leave them in zip/rar form? After i unzipped and tried adding the headers and image folders it kept saying i had duplicate files over and over again. Then it finally failed and said it didn't recognize symbols ( guessing cause it was formatted fat USB thumbdrive) am i supposed to format it to ext3?

or is all thsio not necessary and once i got the debian fully installed then i can add grafs kernel? Thanks for any input guys.

also thisd Geoff cfw version is installing much faster than the other one from this thread, so that seems like a good sign
