Well, thanks to cookies updated links i'm at the installation process of Debian as we speak :) Only one problem remains, to get it to boot install have to swap out the usb devices as soon as you hit enter. easiest way to do it is make it as loose as possible but still working, then once you hit enter and see boot install and unplug it the rest of the way :)
BTW i'm on kmeaw 3.55
This is what throws me off...what are on the usb devices to swap out? I want to boot from cd (gentoo)....do I still need to keep the device with the imagedtb.ps3.bin in to boot (my understanding is that petiboot is installed on vflash5) I am also on kmeaw 3.55Quote:

I have come to far to give up now...:(
TIA
ok new problem. which vflash do i install it to now at the partitioner? i did the 20gb resize create.
i have
/dev/
ps3da-120 gb unknown
ps3db-91.8 gb unknown
ps3db-2.1gb unknown
/dev/
ps3vflasha-26.0 gb unknown
ps3vflashc-209.5 mb unknown
ps3vflashd-16.8 mb unknown
ps3vflashe-524.3 kb unknown
ps3vflashf-8.4 mb unknown
ps3vflashg-262.1 kb unknown
ps3vflashh-42.9 gb unknown
i'm guessing either vflasha or vflashh.
no once the imagedtb.ps3 is done installing and you can take your usb drive out. then when you use the "i am back" petitboot loader, do the usb half plugged in and as soon as you hit install plug that out and leave it out until the installation process starts taking effect.
So is the keyboard, not the usbdrive that I hot swap...
edit:
Never-mind....I found this from another forum (sorry psx-scene)
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=22329
On to a new problem :) Whenever i try partioning the vflash i get:
"No powerpc PReP boot partition is found"
and it sends me back to the partitioning set up. Any ideas?
edit: nevermind. I see it in the partitioning options :)
From the other forum I found that you use the ps3vflashh and this (Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!) should fix the usb problem (not hotplugging)
Giving gentoo a try now....
Cool! thanks JJ. I notice when i try to finish partitioning i get an input/output error and it sends me back to the partitioning lol.
Let me know what size you set reflash and how you partitioned the vflash, what system and where you put them if it's not too much trouble. Thanks!
Actually nevermind, maybe i should just give gentoo a try and see if thats easier to set up. Have a link to the ISO?
if i do guided partitioning in Debian i get a primary and swap. Then get the input output error. I try doing it manually and it creates all the partitions as logical. Which should be logical and which should be primary?
