How much time does debian takes to install??????????????????????????????

hey everytime i run level 2 patch and start linux it says install debian gnu linux but i see people in videos and in all tutorials they say you will boot to logon screen but i go to a blue screen that says install debian gnu linux and when i start it takes alot of time and it needs to download from the internet ? ?? why didnt they say in asbest os 1.5 or newer they dont require internet ??? also it says preconfiguration file failed after it download the 2 files ... and yesterday it didnt say that it got me to a place to download 1080 files or something like that and it says it needs 17 hours to finish!!!! so i stopped it DIDNT I DOWNLOAD THE LINUX IMAGE WHAT AM I DOWNLOADING MORE ? DIDNT THEY SAY ASBEST 1.5 OR NEWER DOESNT REQUIRE INTERNET ??? AND WHEN I DISSCONNECT THE INTERNET IT GIVES ERROR IN THE CONSOLE !!!!

It depends on your network m8. Just let it download. Otherwise the only other way you can do it is to setup netboot. Which in all honesty if you can't get it to work through the regular install is going to be a pain in the ass. I'm still trying to get my netboot working with gentoo.

You are downloading the entire distro or more rather all the install files. The linux image is just the kernel IIRC to boot into the installer. Just let it download man. Also please stop with the caps. It's highly annoying.

Netbooting basically means that you have an entire linux distribution on your linux server and all computers and PS3's in your house can boot that distro from over the network. It takes while to setup and I still haven't gotten it to fully boot into linux. I know I have something configured incorrectly but I don't know what.

Look in the linux section here for some guides on how to boot through external hdd or on the internal.

so the only way i need the download to finish ? actually how much is the size of all the download that uses ? is there a files to download from pc ??? and dont use internet on ps3?? im going to check whats netbook

what about the 10gb images boot ? so its not the full linux ? its all 10gb for only the booting ? and needs to download more ? and linux on ps3 has all features like normal linux or just a mini linux ?
