Thanks mistawes! found it in /etc like you said and has a bunch of stuff written in it. Now for my next and hopefully finally thing to bug you guys about, what to i change to get grafs kernel to boot up.
In my current kboot it has written
Linux=" /boot/vmlinux initrd=boot/initrd.img root=dev/sda1 quiet
old=" /boot/vmlinux.old initrd=boot/initrd.img.old root=/dev/sda1 quiet
Now my guess is i need to change those parameters with grafs kernel info? but not too sure. trying to learn how to go along. Keep in mind i'm usuing an external HD , if that makes any difference.
What would really help and if it's not too much trouble something written of what i need to type in that i can copy and paste will really be greatly appreciated, but if it's too much of a hassle/annoyance i fully understand.
Also i notice my kboot.conf is read only. YAY for more damn problems .
You need to use sudo to update sys files...

That's a rough template, where I've put *** type in the filename from the /Boot folder, the one that says "graf" in the title, so it matches the other options in the kboot. If you do it right, you should see it in Petitboot.
Graf=" /boot/vmlinux.*** initrd=boot/initrd.img.*** root=/dev/sda1 quiet
ok now i have a new problem. it finished installing spat the disc out etc, restarted, started up lv2, selected linux, have options linux, old, boot os etc, select linux using enter... i get this error:
gave up waiting for root device. common problems:
-boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
-check root delay (did system wait for long enough?)
-check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
-missing modules (cat /proc/ modules; is dev)
ALERT! /devsda1 does not exist. Dropping shell!
busybox v1.15.3 ubuntu 1:1.15.3 etc etc etc

man i can't thank you enough, all of you guys also who tried helping. As far as layman terms mistawes is the easiest to follow if having problems. :dance:
So how's this looking. Am i "graf-ized" :D
in system monitor
memory 193.4 MiB of 218.5 mib
swap 19.5 of 544.0 Mib
Now wondering if i should go and uninstall uneccessary services/languages/ packages to free up more memory? like in the installing ubuntu on low memory systems. or is that unnecessary now with the added memory?
No problem mate! :D
I just installed another compile from User's thread, 8e48063 is what it says instead of e16db48. It is lightning quick, compared to the last one anyway, I'm actually posting from it now! :D
LOL dude! i was just about to post on here how i been waiting for ubuntu software center to load for ages and was going to say how much faster the other ubuntu 10 file images were faster than this with much less memeory!
LOL i think i'm going to have to do the same cause this e16etc version is wayyy too slower than it should be! Thing is i had george telling me to use that one, and user the 8e48 one.Im going to get on that right now, luckily now i know what i'm doing lol thanks to you!
grrrr anyone know why mines not working?
My attempt to install ubuntu gets stuck right after it starts the partitioner. It shows:
and when I click 'continue', the screen stays blank. It also stays blank if I select 'go back'.
I have a 120GB external formatted as FAT32 that the PS3 successfully recognizes in XMB before I boot the installer. I was planning to select that as the install location.
