Yesterday I tried following the AsbestOS 1.5 Ubuntu tutorial which is available here in this part of the forum. I always end up with a black screen when selected linux whilst running LV2-V9.

Today I tried using BootOS 2.01 to install debian, now instead of having a black screen, I see lines of code. The last one says : /bin/sh:can't access tty: job control turned off. / sending discover ... sending discover ... DHCP lease has failed.

I waited for an hour, figured it's normal since it's busy installing ... but, it keeps doing it. So does anyone have a clue here about what I'm supposed to do or what I am doing wrong?

Thanks, I did that, but now I end up being stuck at te "partition disks" window. It only allows me to choose to undo changes to the partition, and then it will remain stuck at the blue screen. And it allows me to finish partitioning and write changes to disk. Yet when I select this, it says: "No root file system is defined, please correct this from the partitioning menu."

I'm clueless here ... Also I think this is a full Debian distro, and not a VM like the tutorial in this section mentioned (The ubuntu one ). Any chance I'd be able to get my hands on a virtual Debian distro? I heard Ubuntu Isn't that good, and I just wanna utilize the PS3 to host some files and a TS3.

Nah, I figured doing so internally, but I guess I need a VM version of Debian for this. Don't want to loose the mass amount of games and brew now, hehe.

Edit: I've got a 2GB and 4GB a PSP memorystick, and a 2 gig flashdrive, so yea I lack the space to run it from a decent flash drive. I could get my hands on a 16GB one but meh I'd rather run linux internally, preferable not losing any games or brew.

Yea, I guess I need to do it externally if I wanna maintain my games and brew. Figured the VM version of Ubuntu would do the job and just let me boot straight in it once installed.

Figures I'd have to partition, but I currently lack external space, will get me one of those flash drives in a couple of days and work with linux from there. Kinda crap tho since I've only got USB ports on this PS3, ah well, an extra USB extender with multiple ports wouldn't hurt either.

Shoulda looked better into things, wanted to get on linux ASAP and see how far I can go running it as a file / VOIP / ... etc server
