Another question about Kernel. Is it difficult to compile it? Also how long it takes to compile it? And It has to be done on PS3 or on PC?

Nice , thank you. I then definitely will add this ( sudo apt-get install software-center ) to tutorial ASAP. At first I will make some tests.
Can Software-Center also work in Red Ribbon? If so then probably it better to add in next release?

Really nice tutorial. So easy to follow. Thank you man. I just wondering like how long It took you to create ?
Well I am very happy that I could simplify Linux for everyone to be installed.
To be honest, I spent like half a month or maybe 1 month to create all my tutorials. Like it can sound that it is easy to write it, but it involves also Testing. I have to make all the tests on my PS3 before I post tutorial, because I have to be sure that I wont get complaints that this doesnt work or that.
As far as I can see everyone is happy.
Aslo I want to thank you that You have interest in it.
You know to tell you truthfully , before I liked to play games, but after I found out that does Exist such nice and at the same time free OS like Linux---I really liked it.
I can tell you this----If you once liked Linux---IT is forever.

It isn't very difficult. You can read about this at ps3devwiki.
I always have builded the kernel on my computer using cross-compiling, because my computer is faster than the PS3 and more resistant to heating.
Greetings
Thank you for links r04drunner. i just really hope that I can figure out how to do it, because I never in my life yet did it. Probably there must be created some special Environment in order to emulate PS3s environment?
I have at home powerful PC with AMD-processor running at 3,2 GHz and with 4GB of RAM Would be nice to know like how long would take it to compile kernel on such beast ? Do you think such machine is sufficient enough to handle it?

You know I just very glad that we have such nice developers. This method is really preferable for me.
I will now explain why. I have fat ps3 and It got dead blue-ray drive. Probably sony did not do a good job when designing first drives in ps3.
Anyway the thing is that I can not use retail distribution of linux on DVD.
But with your method I am again all set up.
My ps3 again can run Linux. I have to tell you honestly I also big fan of Linux .
Yes, your computer will build the kernel faster than the PS3, but you must build the cross-compile tools first. If you follow the guide, you shouldn't have problems.
Also, you can copy the CD content to a USB stick and install from it. Both methods can be used on a PS3 with a damaged blu-ray drive.
Regards
Well pvc1 , I have slim ps3 160GB and you know , I have to admit that It has robust BD-Drive because i am sure that first BD-Drives died because of beginning of production and also every technology at its beginning has its flaws. Also if to compare DVD and BD technology---we have to understand that length of wave in BD is much more smaller.
But still I do not want to have DVD-Disc to spin in my ps3 for 4,5 hours.
When i did install Ubuntu---it took 4,5 Hours. i did only once, and second time I do not want to do it---because I want my ps3 to live as long as possible.
With my method installation of Ubuntu or Debian takes something--like 1 hour--hour and half. Its amazing, isnt it?
It all depends on like how quickly you can type.

r04drunner do you mean extract contents of ISO with winrar to usb stick ? I just never heard about such method.
