can't boot linux after updating kernel

greetings, i managed to install red ribbon Linux yesterday, i booted it with live cd and later installed it to the internal HDD. it was running fine, i wanted to install the update that enables WiFi connectivity. so i connected the ps3 to the internet with the Ethernet cable, i followed the guide to install it.

wget http  :/ / redribbon.t15  .org  /downloads/online-update-2011-11-21 .sh

it connected fine, and download it

sudo sh online-update-2011-11-21 .sh

it was installing fine, it took a while. it then gave the prompt screen.

If while executing it asks: You are running a kernel (version 2.6.38-powerpc64) and attempting to remove the same version. This is a potentially disastrous action. Not only will /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-powerpc64 be removed, making it impossible to boot it, (you will have to take action to change your boot loader to boot a new kernel), it will also remove all modules under the directory /lib/modules/2.6.38-powerpc64. Just having a copy of the kernel image is not enough, you will have to replace the modules too.

I repeat, this is very dangerous. If at all in doubt, answer Yes. If you know exactly what you are doing, and are prepared to hose your system, then answer No.

that's where things went wrong, i clicked yes to all. after that was done, the system was still running. that's until today, i wanted to run it from the internal but it didn't work. so i tried the live cd and it didn't work either.

how can i fix the kernel malfunction? do i need to format? thanks in advance

yes it's on a slim, that's why i needed to add wifi support.

The kernel shows errors when boot? or the PS3 freezes when you launch Red Ribbon from Petitboot?

Red Ribbon was booting normally after the update and the problem began some time after? or the problem began just after the update?
