I have a Fat PS3 80GB Non-BC with Kmeaw 3.55. I downloaded Lvl2 Patcher, AsbestOS (i have used versions 1.2-1.5) and 2 different versions of Debian Linux. I have tried both USB ports, transferred the linux.img to the hard drive (in both dev_hdd0 and dev_hdd0/game directories) and all I get is a blue-screen…BUT…there is one thing that may be the big problem…I am using a CRT SDTV…I do not have anything other than a SDTV in the house…I do know that Linux would probably look like crap on a CRT SDTV, but I still want to try it…So, is Linux ONLY possible on HDTVs?
Try v0, and v1. I know that in v2 the default resolution was changed because it went from something like 560*384 to around 1280*720. This is where the git was hosted, but dukio changed their hostname and now it doesn't redirect to the git.
I don't have access to my ps3 or the source i downloaded earlier, but i think it was something like.
[lang=sv]new git link

Thanks for new git link, although it seems kmeaw hasn't committed the latest source.
Try this version. Its v0, still requires a dhcp server to boot, and the installer doesn't output what it's doing, but it does have low resolution as default, so it may work. It it does then you just need the latest version recompiled with that videomode as default. Although i've heard only problems about using an sdtv, experienced this myself earlier.
Edit: Actually it may not work on your fat ps3, as there was a different package for phat and slim in the earlier revisions. Try v1 here too.
Seriously PSXSCENE? What's the problem with console - spot?
