2 problems

1)while opening firefox this popped up:

"enlightenment error

this is very bad. enlighenment has segfaulted. this is not meant to happen and is likely a sighn of a bug in enlightenment or the libraries it relies on...."

then when i restarted linux the KDE no longer appeared, and since i have only been using linux for a few hours i have no idea how to get it back. where do i go to find it?

2) when i go Applications > Applications > system tools > Boot PS3 Game OS i get an applications run error that says

Enlighenment was unable to run the application:
bood-game-os
The application failed to start

so i cannot boot the gameos from linux i have to restart the system instead

3) after restarting linux following the the problem above, the KDE no longer appers on the desktop. how do i get it to appear???


my knowledge of linux is exremely limited (< 4 hours experience) so your help would be greatly appreciated

i have been advised to reinstall linux on another board. think that would be best considering all the problems from the getgo?

This isn't windos, if you haven't mess (deleted/renamed) with system files, reinstallation is only a loss of time.

I suppose "bood-game-os" is wrong, the command should be "boot-game-os", this will work without entering full path only if is in the command path, use "locate" or "find" to see the command full path and check it against your $PATH env variable (from a shell "echo $PATH").

Enlightenment is the WM (and a desktop environment), you don't mix KDE with Enlightenment (the DE's), you can probably use Enlightenment (the window manager) with KDE (i haven't looked at Enlightenment from a very long time and never used KDE).

i managed to get teh KDE back, but whenever i try to configure it i get that enlightenment error.

i figured out how to boot the gameos though. apparently i needed root privileges, thats all.

KDE's default window manager is "kwin". IMHO, it doesn't make sense to use the Enlightenment window manager with KDE...
