I upgraded the HD from 20 GB to 120 GB. Now I want to install Yellow Dog but I'm stuck in trying to decide whetever to have the 10GB for the PS3 or YD. What is the cons of having the PS3 with the 10GB?

Depends what type of user you are.
Type 1:
10GB to PS3 OS
110GB to YD
Would mean you would use the PS3 more as a computer, always updating the programs to their latest version. Basically, just using it as a PC.. space is always available to you. 10GB for the PS3 OS would be fine.
Type 2:
10GB to YD
110GB to PS3 OS
Vice-versa, would mean that you'll be dedicating the PS3 as a gaming machine for game data/saves, Heavy import of MP3s for the Player, mass photo viewer, movie player in the PS3 OS partition.
can i ask, what speed was the hard drive you got? if i'm not mistaken, isn't the drive that comes within the PS3 a 5400 RPM drive? And what speed/manf. did you go with on your drive, "unknown_g". thanks.
