Your thoughts on second Harddrive

Hey guys, after reading a lot of threads I decided to register and post a Problem that is coming up in my head.

I have a PS3Key lying here but i dont know if I really want to potentially lose my PSN functionality. I really enjoyed downloading songs for rockband and psn games like scott pilgrim.
I can't access them since I'm not connected to PSN anymore and I dont know why. ( some thoughts?)

Now the question I wamted to ask you:
I'm thinking about using a second harddrive that's set up as a new system ( no psn account, for example) for backups on the harddrive, and keep my original harddrive for my BD games which I occasionally play. What do you think?

Edit: I know that it's not possible two have a different firmware on another HDD. my thought is just to have a clean hdd without a BM log to use if the whole JB thing doesn't look to be consistent.

You cant have 3.41 on one hard drive and 3.50 (+) on a second, it dosent work like that

That wont work unless you are talking about a 2nd PS3. You need 3.50 firmware for PSN to work but you need 3.41 firmware for the JB to work. Just keeping the hard drives separate wouldn't do anything.

Correct...you will need a second PS3 to accomplish what you want. Just like I have a modded 360 for backups offline and 2 unmodded 360's for playing online.
