Would this jailbreak exist if Sony had listened?

It's been nearly 4 years, People have been requesting features, cross chat, custom soundtracks for all games...etc.
But instead they removed features one after another, which made it desirable to hackers to find any means to exploit it. Even if it meant getting their hands dirty and stealing some code from Sony.
Was the removal of OtherOS the final nail in the coffin which sparked the community to "open" the ps3?

When you start taking advertised features that people paid a lot of money for, you're bound to start to piss people off. Many of those people have the talent to do what has happened (and probably much more to come)
Honestly, Sony did this to themselves. The more you lock something down, the more people want to break it open

won't make a change.. if sony would give those 'features' that the people have been requesting.. people would still demand for something new.. it's a loop.. people demand > sony supplies > people demands.. and so on and so forth.. people would still try to hack the console whatever the reasons are.. even if the OtherOS function was still there, hackers would always try to hack the PS3.. why? because it runs in their blood.. to exploit something believed to be unhack-able..

i am sure PS jailbreak was more for back ups considering that is what they advertised it for. So it would have happened even if we got those features, i mean if it was because we didn't get those then we would have seen a homebrew app for them right away instead of the backup manager

In short, heck yeah it would! Whether they would of listened to the public or not, I believe, is totally irrelevant. Hackers just can't leave stuff alone. They can't! It's hard coded into there psyche. They love, and I mean LOVE to create. This need to create along with the "forbidden to do this" factor is what fuel a hacker into doing what they do best. Has nothing to do with what a company does or doesn't do.
