I have problems with both of those as they encode on the fly for unsupported codecs and cause stutter. PS3mediaserver is java based and I hate it for that fact, I use NJ (Not Java) mediasever without a hiccup streaming supported video (with encoding on the fly being worked on but till then Showtime will play 98% of all files streaming over your network) files over wifi but I am using a N band setup for better speeds.
Go wired or use Homeplugs.
Same here. I used PlayBack, MediaLink and PS3 Media Server. Though I didn't try a low quality vid. I played a 720p avi (3GB) file and played with hiccups. I think it has to do something with Wireless speed. Correct me if I am wrong.
