1. There will be no hack for people on OFW higher than 3.41
2. The higher firmware will be hacked so that it can be used by people who have hacked their PS3.
3. If coders can't be bothered with 2. they will just fake the bits of higher firmware if Sony start demanding that the XMB be up to date. (Where the PSP is at now since Alex has pissed off)
...Just like the PSP\Xbox360
It seems people still think there will be another hack found, this is because they don't know how the hack works in the first place. I would suggest finding out and then they would change their opinion. - easy enough to do a google.
Of course nobody can be certain, 6 months - year down the line...something could turn up but it won't be based on anything used in this hack.
No one ever said it would be based off this hack the buffer overflow exploit is closed. They just have enough to learn from the OS and exploit the system with a NEW hack. Like the iphones and the never-ending cat and mouse game. Like I said anything is possible because they never had this kind of access to the OS the way they have now.

v3.41 Aug 02 2010 >>> Silent second full release (PS3UPDAT.PUP). This works with PS Jailbreak.

Something I find interesting, is that Geohot did his exploit with 3.15 fw and soon after sony patched it with 3.21.
Then at a later date they just carried on with updates to 3.41 which came out on 27th July, but then they did another update on 2nd August (does anyone know what they changed and why ?).
However by mid august there was a hack out that only works on 3.41 so this suggests that the original hackers put the hack together in around 2 weeks and got it to market (well samples produced and delievered).
Now I don't see how they could put this whole hack together in such a short time frame ?
Therefore there has to be a way to get this working on earlier fw versions (as per post above, maybe the way to boot into dev mode is different and that is all ?).

I would have to guess thats possible. because how the heck Sony will fix or repair defective Ps3's if it wasn't for their own special dongle? So im guessing its wiser to change the boot sequence so that they will just have to redesign their "own dongle" i suppose?

Geez ... some peoples, seriously.
We don't know shit.
The smart guys (the peoples who actually know what they're talking about) are working on this and trying to find a way.
All those hacks and stuff have revealed a lot of things about the PS3 and the way it works, i bet a lot of other holes have been found on the way. Things we and YOU don't even know about yet (it has to be exploited, tested, and tested again and again, it works that way, otherwise its not reliable).
If you don't have a clue, just STFU.
Unless you work on the FW's for sony and know whats coded in it, but if that was the case you wouldn't be here pretending to know and making stupid statements.
