any idea's if this is something being worked on or is 3.41 the only one, I say this because sony will force updates in the near future for games to work properly, thats a fact!!!
my ps3 is 3.50 becuase i like home and psn store but dont want to waste money on another ps3 if all future games will not work becuase of firmware issues.
What do u people think???

If I were a betting man I would say "yes". Pandora's box has been opened...just like the PSP...I predict it will not be able to be closed.

It was closed with patch 3.42

I don't believe that even for a moment!! Were you active in the scene when the PSP was first hacked? They said the same exact thing...this will only work with 1.50 FW...everything after that will be locked. Years and numberous firmware updates later...still going strong with new CFW!! Yes it takes a while...it don't happen over night...but it does happen.

Awful analogy
Pandora's box was never shut, until the end. This has already been shut somewhat, and whether it is open or shut depends on how you look at it, are we talking about piracy, in which case it's smack bang open and can't be closed.
Are we talking about getting full read\write access to the whole system?
Are we talking about being able to update?
Are we talking about being able to play online without getting banned?
See...It's not quite so clever as a snappy, already said before 1 million times quote that doesn't even fit the situation
Personally though from and with reason to back it up, 3.42 and onwards will never be hacked, as in once you've updated to 3.42 you're screwed unless it's a hacked version of the 3.42 or higher firmware that has been installed over a 3.41 jailbroken PS3. Not just a guess, this is exactly how it's played out on the Xbox 360, an Xbox 360 can be hacked as long as you haven't updated past a certain version of the firmware, if you have then there is no way to hack it. This version was released over a year ago and still nobody has hacked any firmware since - they've released hacked updates - but only for people who already have the hack in place.
See, the point here is that it took 4 years to hack the PS3 and that hole has been firmly sealed, it's been removed completely and not just patched up. It will be YEARS before another hole is found - if ever. Now that it has been hacked the determination to find another will be even lower. Much like with the Xbox 360, nobody even discusses hacking the Xbox 360 anymore (I don't mean homebrew coding\realising new hacked updates\utilities etc, but actually hacking the base microsoft firmware from scratch).
The PS3 has much more advanced protection than the PSP so don't bring that into it as some kind of example of a precedent. The only thing it shares in common with a PS3 is that it's a games console in terms of protection comparisons it might as well be a toaster.

You've missed the point entirely on the whole situation, the PSP hack and all hacks after it apart from the pandora batter which is a hardware mod were all attacking the same part of the system, i.e causing the PSP to crash and then run some small code in the are of memory that had been encoded into first an image, then later on a save game.
The PS3 has a hypervisor, software is never granted the permissions to allow that sort of thing to even happen. If it was possible it would have been done. This jailbreak hack itself is hardly a "proper" hack. Sure the results are the same but the point is that it's using a service mode that is built into the PS3 - on purpose. It's not exploiting a small piece of code that Sony aren't aware of or can only part fix with each release of new custom firmware as with the PSP. Sony have COMPLETELY REMPOVED the code that allows the jailbreak code to run. It's not even there, there is nothing to exploit.
Sorry if I sound patronising but think it though and you'll see it's not as simple as, "oh look it's happeend before, cat and mouse, etc etc"
I'll bet anyone that no hack is released ever again for a virgin PS3 on firmware higher than 3.41. In my mind it's not even in question....Open to reasoned explantions why it would be though. And don't get me wrong I'm no coder so but my interpretation is based on the fundamentals of how all these exploits were\have been done in the past which have all been publiclly documented in laymans terms.

I think more of the folks responsible for this will focus their efforts on CFW, not another exploit for 3.50. Just my opinion.
