Will they ban me? –
Hi. I want to remobe my CFW and install a clean and fresh OFW. I didn't go ever online with the hacked FW, so if I will format from the PS3 it's drive, will I have a chance to be banned? And someone told me itis better to format the PS3 hdd drive from the PC, is it true or can I format the hdd from the PS3 itself without fear?
I think your chance of ban in minimal. And, to be on the safe side, it's always better to format the HDD from a computer that way you know it's been completely cleared.
OK thanks but I'm not sure I will be able to format from PC... It's a bit complex ... What are the chances (in numbers) of ban with PC format compared to PS3 format? Thanks.

The Slims CECH-2xxxx have a simple Plastic cover that you can get off with your Fingernail. Slide the Cover off and tug the HDD outta the PS3.
Now unless your you have a 15 Year old Computer. Chances are your PC has S-ATA Data Ports & Power Connections. Barring that you could use an external USB Enclosure too. Hook that up to any Windows PC and the first thing, you'll like be greeted with is: "Would you like to format this Drive?" Just click yes and Bobs ya Uncle.
BTW: While we on this Topic. Would I run into any trouble if I were to FTP my Game Saves to a Temp Folder (PC Side), Formated said Drive (PC Side), droped it back into the PS3, then reformat it there again, then FTP my Gamesaves back again? I assume that my PSN Purchases can be re-downloaded and installed from S0NY again, as well as my Trophies (As to the last time I synched them).
Or did I miss something.
i have an old notebook so no sata.

Long enough to get the job done. Or assuming that you have an E3 (or not)... You could try to get something like this. Which I plan to do a bit latter on. Unfortunately the E3 kinda blew my budget for the Month.

This is always an option too: Vantec 2.5"/3.5"/5.25" SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter - Model CB-ISATAU2 - Newegg.com
As for Ichijoe's question, are you talking about coming off of CFW? Cause, if you go to OFW, there's no way to FTP the game saves back. You're better off backing up which ones you can via the XMB to a thumb drive and then restoring them that way. If you're going to stay on CFW, I think it works, but I think you need one of those game save cracker programs as your unique user ID will change.
I'm currently on Rogero 4.40CFW and done some nasty stuff with GT5. That GT5 is rather insistent on getting access to PSN I'm rather hesitant to do it. As if I could any way. (e.g. Not being on 4.46). So yeah I would backup my Gamesaves via Multiman FTP. -> wipe the Drive -> Format it for PS3 again... then useing Multimon FTP back my Gamesaves. Delete my History delete Multimon. Then update back to 3.55OFW, then finally to 4.40OFW via USB. To take the last update as normal.

In fact, I have those early models (80 GB), and from the quick glimpse I took I didn't see no SATA. So can I hook it to my computer regulary? And what to do then? (to format).
