That is pretty simple to fix on your end. Instead of relying on other people and implying they are lazy because they won't do something for YOU, just help yourself by selling your PS3 and buying another one with CFW 3.55 or lower.

With the PS4 announcement, yeah not looking too good, unless you think that because the PS3 is being phased out someone at Sony may leak the 4.30 private keys.

Speaking of, the PS3 market has taken a HUGE hit, in December a jailbroken CECHA could fetch $300 easily, now you'd be lucky to get $200. 4.30 CECHAs? From $250 to $150, no one wants them.

But no one is working on a jailbreak? I mean I don't think there's a way without those keys.

Pure fantasy. Why would somebody risk their job just because the product is phased out. I'm sure the list of people with access to the private keys would be very short. Sony would not have to look far to find out who leaked it.

I don't know. There are jailbreaks consistently four for IOS. They don't require finding private keys.

Well iOS is much different... It's based on a decently-standard system, whereas PS3s are in a league of their own with the CELL architecture, that bootloader lv setup... Everything has to be signed, reminds me of Motorola and their locked bootloaders :/

I agree. I was just pointing out the possibility, however unlikely, that a vulnrability could be found that negates the need for private keys.

A system being phased out does have a lot to do with the homebrew seen, just look at the ps2, wasn't it almost the same day Sony announced they were stopping production that the official ps1 emulator was released.

Also, I didn't know that 3.55 slims were that easy to get a hold of, I wouldn't think they would be, and they definitely wont be for long, all the more reason that a newer alternative needs to be considered, the amount of 3.55 ps3's or even ones that can be down graded is easily going to diminish in the next 2 years.

Hell yeah, the eBay market looks like this right now:

backwards-compatible (phat), never been reflowed/had YLOD: $150-175
Jailbreakable or Jailbroken PS3 (phat or slim): $200-250
ProgSkeet: N/A :/

I hope there's an alternative to downgrading via a flasher eventually, I can't buy a flasher even if I wanted one (NAND, not NOR).
