Why is the PS3 JB scene so f*cking gay and greedy?

I've followed multiple scenes for years and have never seen so much unabashed greed from so many devs as here in the PS3 scene. Imagine if Fanjita had charged for his first psp iso loader? Or if Dark Alex had charged for his psp custom firmware? Or if Commodore4Eva charged for his many drive firmwares?

And these people actually developed something, not just cloned it.

this is pretty profitable. developers as well known as dark alex propobly has sponsers behind em. dont worry, in the future everything will be open source and no point for newer stupid dongles ect.

The scene is still young and true custom firmware is not out yet. PSP was easy to hack and got hacked in a matter of days. It was so easy the scene grew very fast, there wasn't any time for anyone to come up with a way to rip people off as it wasn't time consuming and easy as hell.

There was no point in charging for something since the next guy could make it for free. The scene died at a bad time. It died because the psp sucked. It had barely any quality games and the DS was shredding it apart. Even now the DS scene is alot stronger than the PSP ever was.

The ps3 is a different subject, not many know about the architecture and are just really starting to scratch the surface and the ones who know a bit more tend to make money off of it. Someone made an app to write in dev flash and its a huge step towards cfw and other hacks. I agree that the ps3 scene is the greediest bunch as I already mentioned the iphone/ipod scene is the best one. Once the ps3 scene matures you won't need a dongle or any other crap people charge you for.

Even the xbox scene charges you for other stupid things like an xbox case opener and the ck3 probe. You're talking as if CFW is on the ps3 and the scene is charging you for it. Let's get to that point first, it's going to be awhile.

It might have something to do with the fact that the PS3 jailbreak-consumers are mostly analphabets who require step-by-step guides on how to wake up in the morning and eat their breakfast. People who can barely manage to write half of a broken english sentence yet use l33t speak in it, and who think that by pirating on the system they wage an honourable and divine war against Sony, the maker of the console that let them play their video games for the last decade.

When these are the people who receive the work you do, you have to be tempted to exploit their unmeasurable stupidity, just like how every last company does, and I don't think its fair to judge them for this.

Lets just hope $ony doesnt plug every hole before the scene has a chance to mature.
Think about where the 360 scene could have went if the original kkexploit and robinsod's downgrader would have came sooner before the devs gave M$ a "heads up" to patch it.

Did you miss the part where you can buy a reprogramable dongle for cheap and use open source payloads like uh ... all of them?

Did you miss the part about the various Backup Managers? You know those ones that don't cost a thing?

C'mon, what the **** more do you want?

Do you honestly thing any breakthrough that happens with any one dongle maker WONT be cloned?
