Hi guy's here's the story, I have kmeaws cfw 3.55 installed and I'm really having problems installing pkg files. I've tried signed ones, unsigned ones and always result in an "error has occurred" and gives me a corrupt file in xmb.

I did manage to install black box fifa 11 and it works, I have ftp access to the ps3. I also managed to install rogero man v 7.8 signed for wutangarza geohot cfw 3.55 and it works, I can rip games to internal, but while trying to play them it just shows the game in the drive at xmb.

I cant run permissions pkg because it errors trying to install the pkg via install pkg in xmb...just like every other pkg I try to install, except the two I mentioned above.

Can I just ftp these pkg's over? cuz they're not installing from xmb?
Also where do I put them?
Thanks so much for any help.

    Oh yeah, 80GB phat.

Restart your ps3 and don't run the lv2 patch, just install your pkg's in normal mode first.

Hi, I got it sorted, so future people who stumble upon this thread wont be stone walled.
-I reflashed ps3 to OFW 3.55 via recovery.
    -I reformatted ps3 internal hdd.
-Then from a now fresh start, I followed this guy's tutorial...
    http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/cfw...ll-pack-77294/

Now everything works like a dream, just like 3.41 with dongle.
Be careful on these forums...some say "this" others say "that".
You can find yourself in trouble really quick, even knowing your way around a pc.
PS3 CFW UPDATES can become very confusing if lead down the wrong path.

    My advice to anyone:
-Always update anything through recovery...**** xmb.
    -OFW UPDATE...through recovery.
    -CFW UPDATE...through recovery.
-DO NOT USE XMB TO UPDATE ANYTHING.
    -UPDATE THROUGH RECOVERY MENU ONLY.

IMHO it's way easier and way safer.
    Thanks.

Take Route 309 North to Route 202 in Montgomeryville.
    (About 10 minutes)
Turn RIGHT on Route 202 NORTH. This is at the “Five Points” intersections – where 5 roads come together. Caution – this is a confusing intersection.
Now proceed approx 6 ˝ miles to Route 152 NORTH and turn LEFT. *Note - You will pass Rt 152 South on your right about 200 yards before 152 N
Go approximately 1/2 mile to Hamilton Street & turn RIGHT - it is the first street on your right as you pass the Post Office.
Recovery Md. is the third building on the right, approximately 100 yards after you turn.

The above two post's are a perfect example of how people become ****ed up and confused.

anyways do this to get recovery:

Sometimes, when you need to update to a OFW or CFW with the same version of your current firmware,
you have to use recovery mode. This guide will help you booting your device into recovery mode.

    * If your PS3 is currently turned on, simply turn it off by pressing the power button on the front once.
    * Turn your PS3 back on BUT hold the power button until it turns off automatically.
    * Now, boot your PS3 into recovery mode by holding the power button until you hear two beeps at a time
    *
    * Connect your controller as the screen should tell; you will now see the recovery menu. Select 'System Update'
    * Make sure your storage device containing the PS3UPDAT.PUP in PS3/UPDATE is connected and press SELECT+START on your controller. Follow the instructions on the screen.

People become ****ed up and confused because they can't use search on the forums and don't know how to follow simple directions and then we get a thousand threads of noobs asking people to make ps2 emulators and all kinds of ridiculous shit I mean this forum has the special Olympics beat hands down
