Why is the discless compatiblity so much better on 3.41? Technical reasons why?

I am just wondering if anyone knows the real reasons why discless compatibility is so much better on 3.41?

What changed in 3.55 to make it worse? Was it something Sony did? Why does going to a higher FW get worse?

Has their just not been a payload written for 3.55 that is as stable?

It has to do with memory addresses and people willing to spend the time debugging them. I also think it has something to do with the security checks that Sony started implementing in 3.55 that take up more memory then what was in use on 3.41. Without knowing the technical details, this is about the best I can explain it.

Select + X (emulate BR-Drive)

ever thing seems to work flawlessly on 3.55 u don't even need a working BR-Drive to go disclesss these days.

Maybe you can explain to me more then how that works as that option has really confused me from day one on how it works. I see how it has moved my files when i use an external...but please explain the details

EDIT: I just tried it and nothing but a black screen for me. Tried from internal and external as I have it save on both. Both times the external HD was plugged in. I tried it on Tiger Woods Masters. Maybe that one is a no go...could be cause of my already modded eboot? I wouldnt think so

actually it dosen;t move the files..

it makes mirrored links to the orginal folder

IE (root Dir of External)

/
/Gamez/BLUS30440

Selcect + X

/
/Game Disc / Linked files

yes the game disc folder shows "lets say 9 Gig" but its not really useing 9 gigs. its just showing you the excate same size as the orginal game location folder.

you could delete the game disc folder with out actually loseing the orginal game .
thats why its so quick to mount/Emulate and change games on the fly...

but it just dose what it says.. Its Emulates the Blu-Ray Drive and then dumps the Game into it... No need for a Blu-ray game or even a working drive for that fact.

most times when you try to load a game and it ether gose Black or Kicks back to the XMB is due to the following

Permmision settings (fixed in multiman with R1)
Modifed Eboot (fined orginal)

I currently have 68 Titles and they alll work
1st Fix Premmision R1 (to be safe)
Select - X - yes
load and works.

Yes I play them allll Discless
And I alwazs Use Select + X ..its just natural...

i started doing that when games use to not load right and all of a suddon this function cam out and it worked flawless for me anywazs

Does anyone know if this Select + X feature is supposed to still work on 3.56 games that require a modded eboot just to play? or is that maybe only on games 3.55 and below?
