Why can't I jailbreak using PL3 (Hermes 4b works)?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought Alpha Protocol was unable to play it on my current configuration as the game just wont go past the initial loading screen.

My current config:
- Gaia/Open Manager (latest builds)
- 3.41 Hermes 4b (ipod Video 5g Rockbox)

I soon discovered that the game was compatible with PL3. Having found out this information, I went ahead and downloaded "rockbox_FW341_PL3_355SPOOF_FLP" from ps3hax. I then went ahead and used Danyl's (please forgive me if I have misspelled the name) "Rockbox-PSGROOVE installer" to install the new PL3 payload onto my ipod video 5g.

The prblem is, when I go to jailbreak (load up psgroove, connect to ps3, press power and eject very fast afterwards), I just keep receiving the following error "An unknow USB device has been connected" or something similar to that. I must have tried this a million times but PL3 just wont jailbreak my Phat model.

Can someone please help me.

you have a bad hex file, or you used the installer incorrectly. Try another version of the hex. If you can't even get the jailbreak to load at all, and you continue to get the unknown usb device error, then as I said above, you need to reflash you device with a new hex.

No one answered you cause your question is not really a question. It is just you having problems and being to lazy to try a new hex. Flash it again, get your hex file or installer from another location, and make sure to read and follow all the instructions exactly as written and you will be just fine.

Try this. It is a thread from this site, the one where you are posting your questions. It might make sense to download and use the hexes from this site since you are asking users from this site for help.

I dont have any experience with using anything other than the Minimus 32 to jailbreak but the hexes I got here worked fine. I did run into a couple that were compilied incorrectly and when that occurred I got the unknown usb device error.

I've seen bitsbubba reply and he seems to know what he is talking about so if running fixed permissions is all he could think of to tell you to try and it still didnt work then I recommend again trying a new hex and CAREFULLY following instructions.

tried the hexes from this site and I'm still getting the same error
