They'll never be able to block firmware modding.
Next update has to work from 3.55 so they can't do any whitelists or whatever else. So it can be modded. Then the next firmware from that can be modified since any new security can presumably be dumped from the previous firmware to allow the dumping of the next one and from there it is a never ending cycle.
That's why it's taking them so long to release a firmware update (the USB Exploit and 3.50 downgrader were blocked by now if we compare time of hack release to how long it took for a patch). They're obviously thinking hard about how they can truly block the fail0verflow findings.
