What will happen? –

I found a Modified 3.41 on a web site that offers old firmwares for download, I have 3.55 when I put the modified 3.41 on a regular usb and poped it into my ps3 it saw it as a viable update. So I was wondering If I went through with the update process will it downgrade to this modified 3.41 , because I read somewhere that the ps3 deletes old updates when installing a new one so is this possible or will it just corrupt my 3.55 firmware.

The modified 3.41 shouldn't be used as it is not necessary for downgrades. You can downgrade directly to 3.15 and then if you insist, upgrade to 3.42 (or whatever other version you want)

What part of my post do you not understand? The modified pup is unnecessary at best and dangerous at worst.

What part of the main post didnīt you understand ? He said heīs on 3.55 and has a 3.41 firmware update that lets him downgrade ( which I highly doubt is possible, but who knows ).
If you want to point your finger at someone for not reading, show me the 3.15 (or unmodified 3.41) firmware, that lets ANYONE downgrade from 3.55...
There is currently no JB for a version higher than 3.41 and no downgrading for a version higher than 3.50 afaik.

It's probably just a modified header. The update will fail.
