Hi there i have an 3,41 ps3. It's not jailbroken. I've ordered a ps3 key will this sabotage my blu ray drive?

or does loss of playback only happen when I downgrade from lets say 3,55 or 3,55 to 3,41 happen?

Will downgrading from CFWs to OFW trigger loss of blu ray playback?

Only when you downgrade. And, as long as you stay on the same firmware (Ex Geohot's 3.55 CFW -> 3.55 OFW) you'll be fine. Though, if I were you, first chance that I got, I'd play the newest bluray I could find, install blackb0x FTP server v1.2 and backup your dev_flash3 folder (the files necessary to restore bluray playback if you lose it)

Sorry to ask the same question in 2 threads, but I think it got swallowed up in wutangrza cfw news post:

Are dvds/ps3 media server playable with wutangrza's cfw? I only ask because its not possible in 3.41 jb mode.

I lost BluRay playback with Waninkoko's CFW when installed through XMB going from 3.41 -> 3.55 CFW, but when I went into Recovery Mode and reinstalled Waninkoko's CFW playback came back. I can now play my backups, PSN, and watch BluRays.

@UndesiredHere: Newest you can find (Inception or newer)

@drbutts: You never lost dvd playback in 3.41 JB mode, ya just didn't know how to make it work If it doesn't work when this all gets implemented, all you have to do is load your BM, select the empty disk icon (have a bluray movie in the drive of course) and load it like you would a game. Now go to your disk icon in the XMB and it will be your blu-ray movie.

Ahh thanks for the reply Chesh! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work (yet).
Did you mean blu rays or DVDs above?

With a dvd in the ps3, I used moh's open manager and selected the first option. I didn't see a disc appear in the game submenu of XMB, so I went to the video submenu and tried to open it and got a dvd region error. Same thing when using multiman. I couldn't turn up anything useful with google.
