To me the ps3 scene is quite a mess. There are so many "manager" being release and most of them don't even have a read me file to give user a guide on how to use it. The the info on the forum is a huge mess too and trying to find an answer is almost fruitless most of the time.
One day , i'm required to to enable "patch" mode to run certain games. The the very next day, you don't have to do that anymore because a new manager version is release. The a few hrs later, a new manager is release that requires to enable the patch mode again. Then a new payload is release and and i don't even know what it actually do anymore. All you see is you can dl it here while there is completely no guide on how to use it.
That is why this forum is flooded with all sorts of question asking the same thing all over again and again.

It really just comes down to there are several groups creating managers to do all the work by utilizing a peek/poke payload via "patch mode" and those making payloads do all the work. I have just got most of my games to run utilizing Hermes V4b with the BM 1.1 that came out forever ago that just gave the ability to run without disc. This was ideal for me seeing as my lens is dead and I have a ton of games already.

I agree also, It is hard for me to understand the difference. Everyday a new payload and manager that did the same thing the last one did. I just did a reformat of the hdd to try and start fresh with one payload and one manager.

By the way when some games do not work in normal mode, thats when you switch to patched mode to see if it works then.
