I know the /GAMES folder is where the actual games are but what files are held in /game?

are those the cache folders? I'm trying to clear out unnecessary memory from my internal. Even though I have a 2 TB external, all the splitting files that get transferred over to the internal really adds up.

Am I allowed to delete any folders that belong to a game I do not play often or will that screw up the system somehow?

    quite simple... it contains:

    - Game Installations (see any game that installs first on HDD before you play it? This is were all those installations goes through)
    - DLC (Downloadable Content)
    - PSN Games
    - PSP/PS1 Games
    - Homebrews.
    Model: CECHC04 PAL/EUR 60GB SKU Console
Firmware: REBUG 3.55 CFW [DEBUG MODE, DEBUG XMB, MENU OPTION 2]
BM: Iris Manager v1.2 (Hermes Syscall8)

    Ellow,
I suggest you first go to Game collum on your PS3 than Game Data Utility and delete the unnecessary Game Data instalations of games you dont play anymore. That should clear up quite a bit of space.

As for the files that you "cache" in to the internal HDD, they are in a seperate folder yes, depending on the manager you use. Safest way to delete those would be from the actual manager you use rather than blindly deleting thrue an FTP connection (just my thouths).

Multiman: /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/game_cache (also in MM's XMMB under settings, clear game cache data) Rogero: /dev_hdd0/game/ROGE12345/cache

Thanks for the help PatrickBateman and Hissatsu.

Follow up question on a specific example.

So I have LA NOIRE. In the /game section there is /BLES00933_INSTALL as well as /BLES00933. Can somebody explain to me what the differences are?

I have another question: There seems to be a lot of foreign language files in these folders under /game. I hear people saying you can delete foreign language files no problem, but I was under the impression that it was only in the /GAMES folder where the actual games were.

    Ellow,
Im quite sure the /BLES00933_INSTALL is the Game Data install (that "speeds" up the loading times, deleted from Game Data Utility) and /BLES00933 is the "update" patch that you installed and allows you to play the game on a CFW console. As for the foreign language its possible they get copyed as well in data install but i could be wrong.

That sounds right Hissatsu. Also if you look in dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/game_cache/BLES00933/final/ps3 you'll see the huge 14gb file that MM makes if you split on external (LA Noire).

As far as foreign languages when i see them i delete them (if they're big file sizes) and havent had any problems and I've never seen any files resembling foreign language files in Install directories (but that may be because I delete them before i install the game) Also, if you install the game first then try and delete those foreign language files it'll more than likely corrupt your install.

If I wished to start from scratch, no games installed whatsoever while still having my cfw and multiman, what should I do?

Should I uninstall/delete multiman from XMB menu and just reinstall multiman from there?

My goal is to erase all split files, game data installed and cached.

Do you guys think NTFS support for playing games on the external will be in the plans for multiman/cfw?

    Ellow,
Best bet, you get all the files deleted would be a format, but you would prolly have to go back to OFW and than JB again, so its out of the question.

Uninstalling/deleting MM from XMB wont do you any good, as the copyed games/cache files still stay on the HDD.
So go in multiMAN and start deleting games from internal HDD (Game Options and Delete). Allso Delete the cache files from MM's XMMB under settings, clear game cache data (ty PatrickBatman for that).

Last go to collum Game and than Game Data Utility and delete all of the game datas there. That should be everything except Save Games.

I doubt NTFS will ever be implemented to play games off. But to be sure you would have to ask Deank (author of MM).
