Don't hold your breath for a 3.42 upgrade from these guys given their piss poor track record

Thanks a ton for them to discover the exploit/BM, but making false promises and causing delays doesn't give the right impression.

Well the way I see it is that if the PSJailbreak or it's 1000 different clones can't keep up with Sony's firmware updates, it really isn't much of an effective crack. Is it really worth it to stay at 3.41 and lose out on upcoming PS3 features like 3D blu-ray movie playback, as well as playing authentic copies of games on Playstation Network? (I won't count playing backup games online because that most likely will end up in your console getting banned).

Not to mention that upcoming titles will require 3.42 firmware, the window that the Jailbreak offers could be very small... Like games only up to Oct 2010 being compatable.

Stupid question about the new supposed update to the backup manager..if it does come out and we can use it on our boards, when we update backup manager, will it automatically recognize the games that we have already backed up on our PS3s..just want to be sure, dont want to have to back them up again

    Why hello again.

The games are stored inside the folder of the backup manager after it is installed (so the structure would be like PS3HDD/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/BCES00035, where the BCES00035 is some game and the LAUN12345 is the backup manager folder). Whether the new manager will preserve that file structure depends completely on the people that write the program and how they choose to make it work. Your best bet to preserve your backups is to back them up instead to an external drive, that way the backups are stored separately than the backup manager itself.

As for why the PSJailbreak isn't in stock places: read the front page, they're being seized. Russia has banned all related devices, some of the Aussies got arrested...They missed their window is what happened. They didn't need the month of hype before release, it just cost them their sales.

If they don't release the update today I wouldn't expect much from them in the future. Their team is approaching this as a business, not to benefit the community that essentially stole their product.

That is true, which makes it a pretty poor business. A cardinal rule of having a business is to "know your customers", isn't it? They released a product that allowed you to "back up" software. What did they expect their target audience to do?

Hey there :-) Yeah i really dont believe there will be an update to the backup manager..I think the PSJailbreak team is so full of crap they probably have nothing. Besides I am happy with the backup manager that I have..now I am just worried about the external drive I Just purchased..its the seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1Tb external drive, bought it from amazon.com I really hope that it will work fine on some of the games that I backup..I assume all backup drives are the same, just gotta format it to FAT 32

Unless they are able to update the PS Jailbreak code to keep up with Sony's future firmwares (which might not actually even be possible), then it's all pointless anyways
