What could happen that would make you upgrade to 3.50?

Seeing as how the new games are unplayable, and the blackops type workarounds will work for less and less games with time. In fact, that type of workaround will probably not work with any game that comes out henceforth, As they will have actual 3.5 code in them (i know for a fact pop collection certainly does, since it has 3d) NFS hot pursuit and prince of persia collection 3d are already not playable at all. And the chances of 3.50 being hacked is I believe very slim. It could only happen if the firmwares end up being completely decrypted, which they haven't done even for 3.41, or we'd have cfw by now. And of course common sense tells you sony learned from psp and has made the ps3 firmware encryptions that much complex and tough to reverse engineer. So I am not holding my breath.

So the question is, What could happen now that would make you give up your jailbreak?

for me, it would be if one of the 3 happens:

1. A new god of war comes out for the ps3 that is unplayable unless you upgrade.

2. A new ps3 exclusive MGS comes out that is unplayable unless you upgrade. I understand that is very unlikely to happen as MGS has already been brought to 360.

3. A new PS3 exclusive comes out the trailer for which blows me away and it is of course unplayable without upgrading.

I do not play online and therefore couldn't care less about PSN access. I wouldn't play online even if I could, which I probably can now via jailbreak but don't bother cause it simple do not interest me. Also the current PS3 exclusive franchises, i.e. GT5, killzone 3, little big planet, etc are of no interest to me at all, and I wouldn't care if I couldn't play them.

I think all Sony has to do now is to release a killer god of war game on the PS3 that cannot be played without upgrading and people would go to 3.50 in droves. But of course thats not exactly a solution you can come up with in 10 days, Would take them at least 1 year to make one (I would say 3/4 years but they already got the GOW3 engine so..)

Anyways, what would make YOU give up JB and upgrade?

3D gaming has been part of the PS3 since 3.40, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with 3.50. 3.50 bought 3D MOVIES into the mix, gaming was already a part of the system

As for what would make me give up the JB? Not much, I can tell you that. Maybe if Quantic Dream finally bought out Omicron 2 or perhaps a full-blown sequel to Heavy Rain.

The only thing that would make me give up the 3 JB'able ps3 consoles:

A scrolling message across my screen saying: your ps3 and address are being sent to the FBI; you live at this address expect a knock at your door at this time on this day, for now it is a big paperweight/homing beckin........otherwise....ill play the 80 or so games i have for no...

I have madden 11 and every other sports game for 2011.....what more do i really need.....i really dont play video games i really only do this for kids games for my son which arent really encrypted as hard as the top releases

i knew someone was going to correct me there. I found this out about 2 minutes after I posted this in one of the other threads. And before anyone corrects me on the other thing, I also just found out that JB consoles going online is over as well

Never. nothing/no game will make me loose my jailbreak. i dont care if i cant play a game plus most games are multi platform so i'll get those on my xbox and play on live.

ps3 exclusives are all good games and all but they wont make me upgrade not with the possibility that oneday they will be playable

but you see what are you really gaining by keeping your JB say if it stays where it is in 2012? only the few good ps3 exclusives that already exists, thats all. there is a lot more homebrew stuff on the 360 anyway.

In addition to the possibility that they could one day be playable, there is also the possibility that they will never be playable, or by the time they will be playable, they wont matter to you. For example, there are some pc games that I really wanted to play but cudnt play back in 2001 bcoz I had a crappy graphics card. My current gfx card wud own those games now but I dont bother getting them or playing them coz the standards have gotten so much better that I have been spoiled and simply wudnt enjoy those games anymore.

And lets not forget that there is also the possibility that even if you upgrade, one of the future FWs cud get hacked again, giving you access to JB. If that happens, you would then feel that there wasnt really any need to miss out on all those ps3 exclusives, for a few homebrew and a few pre 3.41 ps3 exclusives. right?

i have ajtag that keeps me happy. plus plenty of other game to play. what am i gaining? dunno hasnt come out yet. i wouldnt mind full blown linux.

the thing all you kids forget is how long it takes scenes to get off there feet.
psp took a while and they had to break down the same doors that stand before the ps3 comunity. the only reason the ps3 got a good head start was becasue of those people.

we have hit a wall. yes. but the wall will be broken down. i bet three someone right now dumping 3.50 via ethernet studying its shit so we can play games.

also remember that psjb as much as we hate them have a sony jig. that jig does everything so its only a matter of time before they release something then someone revereses it

next thing to consider. debug updates are still avalable. just cos we cant get them doesnt mean people with debug consoles cant.

3.50 games have been out what 2weeks max? the scene is working on it. just cos you cant see them doing it doesnt means its not happening.


i said earlier that the scene is a joke. i need to reword it. there are clowns in the scene and there are good people in the scene. everyone knows what "teams" are jokes so i dont need to say.

also if you think thres gona be another jailbreak lol there wont be. sony has well and truly patched that up. so know by updating your missing out and you will be paying lots for a expliotable console in the future just like jtaggable consoles.

If they released GOD OF WAR 4 or port all the PSP's GOD OF WAR series for PS3, I would really be tempted to upgrade.. but perhaps just tempted to get another PS3.

I was talking about a hypothetical case about what you would do if the scene does not progress at all in the next 2 years, in response to you stating that you would NEVER upgrade no matter what. I was hardly talking about right now. I've got my PS3 JB'd myself, and of course wudnt upgrade anytime soon.

but there are no workaround for 3.5+ games in the next two years, and we are stuck with existing games and only newer hombrews coming out, my PS3 would start to feel pretty useless. You mentioned linux, but I'm guessing you didn't buy your PS3 to run linux on it, coz there are much better and cheaper ways to get a linux machine.

You think the wall will be broken down. Thats very possible. But how long would it have to stay unbroken for you to think the wait isn't worth it? 3years maybe? Imagine you have missed out on 3 years of PS3 exclusives. I mean why even have a PS3 then right?
