Weird bug allowing me to get on PS Store on 3.41 JB

Ok, i was playing around with my PSJailbreak device today and found something weird.

I first flashed my hardware using the software provided on psjailbreak2.com with hermes 3.55 spoof hex. I then booted my PS3 in jailbreak mode, created a new account, and went directly on PS Store. I was able to browse categories and shit. I then went back on my real account, with my PSN account registred, and it asked me to update in order to get on the PS Store.

I made a little video that i just upped on YouTube. As you can see, the dummy account (Raphael in the video) allows me to search on the PS Store, but when i go back to my real account, and try to open PS Store, it asks for an update.

Since we know Sony can ban your PS3 using MAC adress, mine's hidden from the video, sorry for being paranoiac, but i guess it's better safe than sorry.

Nothing big, i can't download anything using the dummy account as it ask to log into psn, and if you do so it then asks for an update. But i still wanted to show this, in case it can lead to something. Maybe some devs can look up to this, or maybe i'm just wrong and this is an already known bug, but anyway i'm still sharing this...

Another thing is that when my network connection is activated, PSJailbreak always fail to come green, can't jailbreak and the wifi led is going flashing crazy, does that happens to anyone else?

I'll have to put myself as a MITM between my router and PS3 to see what's going on...

You are hiding your MAC adress but you are not hiding your email when sign in for the store, so you better remove this if you don't wanna get banned lol...

Hmmm weird bug, maybe it's something with the psn network related or whatever...
Maybe Sony will finally allows older firmwares to be able to get on PSN to buy stuff but not to play online gaming and so on ?

No it doesn't let you play online, it only let you access the store, and once you register a PSN account to it it doesn't work anymore.

I'm in the process of checking what's changing on the PS3 HDD when you register the PSN account, i'll let you know if i find something else...

So there's no change on the /dev_hdd0/home/accountid folders files at all.

The only changes i found were in xRegistry.sys
/setting/user/accountid/account/enable changed from 0 to 1
/setting/user/00000005/npaccount/loginid was filled
/setting/user/00000005/npaccount/password was filled
/setting/user/00000005/npaccount/accountid changed from 0 to a random sequence

I also noticed this string :
/setting/categoryVersion is equal to 00034002 with 04E0 checksum

Could someone either check what value this have on 3.55 firmware, or send me his 3.55 xRegistry.dat so i can compare?

DON'T SEND ME YOUR FILE IF YOU HAVE A PSN ACCOUNT LINKED TO YOUR PS3, BECAUSE YOUR USERNAME/PASSWORD IS WROTE IN CLEAR IN IT. ONLY SEND ME A COPY IF YOU EITHER NEVER WENT ON PSN OR TAKE THE TIME TO REMOVE THOSES INFORMATIONS WITH xRegistry.sys Editor

Thanks to jadekitten on IRC, i've got the value of /setting/categoryVersion from a 3.55 xRegistry.sys, but if someone could still send me a copy of a 3.55 xRegistry.sys that would be awesome!

There is some new strings on jadekitten's 3.55 xRegistry.sys that i don't have on my 3.41 one. They are :

/setting/game/minisUpConvert
/setting/system/fakePlus

But i think they're of no interest. I'm now up to check the differences between differents settings to see if i can dig something up...

Values are about the same, but checksums are all differents, even when the values are the same...

Thanks again to jadekitten, i now have all dev_flash and dev_hdd0 files from a 3.55 firmware, i'll continue to dig, maybe i'll be able to find something!

Next step is to try loading 3.55 files with n4ru flash loader, and see what happens, but i'm having difficulties doing so at the moment...

Edit : wow lots of difference between the 3.41 and 3.55 files! I'll continue investigate for the fun of it, but it seems like everyone is jumping on the new CFW, i'll wait a week or two so i can finish checking thoses files...
