Watching 1080p AVCHD movies on the PS3
First off, I jailbroke my PS3 using Kmeaw's 3.55 (then later using the
PS3MFW Builder to make my own using OFW 3.55 as the source). I use
the latest MultiMan and the Lv2 Patcher version 6.
I copied over an 8GB 1080p AVCHD movie (Despicable Me), and it
plays perfectly. Sound, video: awesome. I used CloneDVD to mount the
ISO and copied the contents to my desktop. Then used CuteFTP Pro to
FTP them to /dev_hdd0/GAMES. I closed and re-opened MultiMan, clicked
on the movie, did the AVCHD structure thing or whatever it was. And
ran it, watched it off my usb drive. No skips, worked just fine.
Note: I used MultiMan 1.15.03 in Windows Vista 32bit
Today, I tried to copy over a 23GB AVCHD 1080p (movie 2012 (twenty-twevle)).
I used FuriousISO Mount to mount it using Brasero (or whatever?) and used
Filezila to transfer it to /dev_hdd0/GAMES. I exited MultiMan then re-opened
MultiMan, hit R1 to fix file permissions (did the same on the other movie)
and hit X. Did the file structure thing and activated the movie. Went to the
video tab and chose my usb drive > avchd file. Movie started playing, sound
worked perfectly fine, but there was no video at all.
Note: I used MultiMan 1.16.01 in Ubuntu 10.04 64bit
I'm wondering if maybe it's something I did (or didn't do) or perhaps it's the
movie itself? People keep telling me to just stream it using PS3 Media Server,
but with my current pc and router, it's a huge hassle with 480p-720p movies and
trying to do a 1080p (let alone 10+GB in size) results in a lot of lagging and
Wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction here?
Other notes: Not sure if these are relevant but the laser in my drive seems to
be dead, or so several have told me. PS3 Media Server fails to copy over files
(mostly .mkv) and streaming isnt the best (using ethernet cables)
Also I plan on trying with a 23.1GB 1080p AVCHD copy of Clash of the
Titans (2010) when it finishes.
Anyway, thanks to anyone who helps or tries to. :P
