I successfully installed the FTP manager and a backup manager using Amazebreak. My only question is:

Do I have to leave the jailbreak dongle in the USB port to play games off of the internal hard drive?

So if I wanted to just load up backup manager and play a game I need to have the dongle in it?

it doesn't need to be always in! meaning if you do the jailbreak process (power and eject) when the machine boots you can remove the dongle afterwards.

    Yep.
I just found that if i can't install a pkg because it errors, i just have to remove my jb device and no more errors. So sometimes you have to remove it

The original PS Jailbreak is the only dongle device that cannot be removed. Or at least thats what all the forums I've been reading say.

I have a minimus 32 and can install package files with the dongle left in or removed once the console is in JB mode.

I thought that same thing until I got the move which needs the camera. If you only have two USB ports and no hub then you need one for the camera and one for your USB HDD leaving no open port for the dongle.

So, if you are able to remove the dongle you can remove the need to buy or use a USB hub.
