I would like to know if my assumption that a 120gb ps3 slim has to have a firmware lower then 3.56 [aka hackable] since from what i understand they stopped manufacturing them before 2011.
also i would like to know if you can go back to OFW once i install CFW?

Ok, so asfar as I'm aware there is no exploit for 3.56, only 3.55 and lower.

Some ppl on here claim to have a jailbroken slim but I'm not to sure as I have both models now and use my slim for online gaming.

You can go back and forth between cfw and ofw asking as u don't go above 3.55ofw :-)

You seem to have misunderstood me. i said lower then 3.56 not 3.56
i wasnt aware the slim ps3s were any diffrent then the fat ones in regards to jailbreaking them as long as they are 3.55 or lower.
    thanks for the response.
    still waiting for an answer.

3.55 slims are definatley able to run cfw, all ps3 models now released by sony for sale are usually the latest official firmware. you can go back to official firmware as long as it is
the same for example 3.55cfw to official 3.55 ofw, it is not recommended to update to cfw 3.55 to official 3.56 for instance as it may result in a brick, it would need to be say
    cfw 3.55 to - ofw.3.55 to - ofw 3.56

There's no difference between jailbreaking phats and slims. You can jailbreak as long as you're under 3.56 and you can switch between CFW and OFW whenever you want.

Thank you for the responses everyone. the only question i had that is left unanswered is my assumption that 120gb slims ps3s are 3.55 or lower? is this assumption correct? the 3.56 was introduced in 2011 and from what i unnderstood sony stopped manufacturing the 120gb slim model in 2010.
