Using the PS3's Back-Up Utility on CFW

Is there any risk? Will it behave awkwardly or misappropriate files? I'm wanting to replace my Western Digital HDD with a Seagate, but I'm worried about problems transferring the data.
I wouldn't think there'd be any issue except for the fact that I have a ROMs folder in my game directory and that worries me a little as to whether it would be included in the backup or not, or if it would cause some problem because it doesn't follow the typical folder structure. I just don't know. Any insight would be awesome. Thanks.

Backed up, formatted, and restored my HDD(via backup utility) today, and everything works fine.

everything will backup just fine and work fine. The only thing that will not be backup is your trophies, you can back this up manually via ftp or a file manager, or you can sync your trophies before and after if your on 3.55

i dont see why there would be any problems, its called a backup utility because it backs up your entire hard drive. whatever is on your hard drive will be included in the backup.

I replaced my 40GB HDD with a 320GB one last night. The backup and restore utility worked just fine.

All goes fine, I tried last night too, on Slim + 1 TB..
Just don't bother installing soemthing after you config your PS3 with the new HDD, because when you restore the data you will reformat again...

Thanks guys. I'm sorry if it sounded like a stupid question. I just didn't want to run into something weird like the ROM folder or emulators not being backed up or some conflicting file names causing a problem.
I've done an HDD changeover before, but I just wasn't sure if it was completely safe with programs and files that don't necessarily follow the official scheme. I assumed it would be okay, but thought I'd be better off asking first. Anyway, thanks again.

Rom folder, Games folder ( backups ) they won't go into teh backup ( my guess) because they are not main PS3 structure, so the FW doesn't see them as something you NEED to backup...
Just delete anything useless from the menu on XMB like easy to install data, Demos, applications that you will update, etc etc.
KEEP PSN games you purchased, and HEAVY Game updates ( Ex Gt5 1.05 update BIG patch ...)
